Tile Making at The Color of Clay

Kerr County Love Project: Community Tile-Making Day

Join us for a day of community tile making with clay, contributing to a

large-scale mosaic mural that celebrates Kerr County’s joy, beauty, and history.

What to Expect:

Working with clay is both calming and restorative. When we create art together, we strengthen our sense of connection and care within the community. In these workshops, our team of art therapists holds a safe, supportive space for processing the emotions that arise in times of hardship. Art fosters healing and resilience, and as Kerr County continues to recover from the recent floods, the long-form process of mosaic making offers a way to rebuild hope and empowerment—one tile at a time.

Session One: Making with Educators

12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

This session invites teachers and school staff to learn the art of tile making and explore trauma-informed practices that can support emotional regulation, coping skills, and connection in the classroom. Participants will create tiles, enjoy light snacks, and share ideas for fostering creativity and wellness in educational spaces.

Session Two: Open Studio for Community Members

2:15 PM – 3:20 PM

All community members—including families and children—are welcome to join this open studio session. Participants will make tiles, connect with neighbors, and learn therapeutic art strategies for self-care, growth, and stress management. This is a space to come together, create, and strengthen the bonds that make Kerr County so special.

What to expect:

The Pint & Plow is celebrating 10 wonderful years, and we’re honored to be part of this joyful community event! The celebration will feature local vendors, fun activities, and something for all ages.

We’ll be set up outside creating ceramic tiles together, pressing clay into handcrafted molds made by Kerr County artisans. It’s a simple, hands-on activity designed to bring people together in creativity and connection.

The molds feature fish, frogs, birds, and other symbols that reflect the natural beauty and spirit of Kerr County. This project is accessible for everyone, regardless of artistic experience.

Participants can expect to spend about 15–30 minutes making a tile alongside friends, family, and neighbors while enjoying the beautiful Texas spring weather.

The Kerr County Love Project is made possible through generous support from

the Kendra Scott Foundation,

which is helping bring art therapy programming and public art to the Kerr County community.

We also could not do the work we do without our incredible Kerr County & Austin partners. You continue to inspire and encourage us to grow stronger together—one project, one tile, one act of love at a time.
