Glass Mosaic Bird Day at
Hill Country Arts Foundation
About the event
Join us for a meaningful, hands-on glass mosaic workshop as part of the Kerr County Love Project. During this special session, participants will create individual glass and mirror birds that will become a powerful element of the community mural honoring those lost in the July 4th floods.

There will be 121 birds in total, representing those who are missing and those who lost their lives in the July 4th floods. Each bird is a symbol of memory, love, and enduring connection. These pieces will be the only elements of the mural created from glass and mirror, forming a luminous space for remembrance within the larger artwork.

This workshop is designed for individuals who are comfortable working with a variety of art materials. No prior glass experience is required; however, participants should feel confident handling tools and materials with care. Glass work requires patience, attention, and a thoughtful approach to safety. Because glass is a sharp material, there is a small inherent risk when working with it.

Glass cutters, safety goggles, runners, and nippers will be provided, along with guidance on safe use of all materials. Participants who prefer to wear protective gloves are welcome to bring their own.

Together, we will create something beautiful, reflective, and deeply meaningful — a place to hold memory and honor the lives of those lost in the floods.
