Kerr County Love Project at the Water Street Festival

The Kerr County Love Project was proud to be a part of the Water Street Festival in Kerrville on Saturday, October 25th. That morning brought a light drizzle across Central Texas, but as the festival began, the sun broke through the clouds, and that crisp fall air enveloped us with her Texas love.

Live painters, musicians, and artisans filled the streets, creating an atmosphere that celebrated community, creativity, and connection. Our booth was buzzing with energy as we set up pre-cut clay tiles—ready for participants to press, carve, and make their mark for the Kerr County Love mural.

Our very first participant of the day was Mayor Joe Herring Jr., who imprinted the message “Hope for Kerrville” into his tile. His contribution set a beautiful tone for the day—reminding us that hope, creativity, and community are at the heart of this project.

Throughout the festival, families, children, and visitors from all over stopped by to learn about the mural, share stories, and create tiles that expressed what love and resilience mean to them. Each piece of clay became a symbol of connection, capturing the diverse spirit and artistry of Kerr County.

We also handed out flyers  announcing our upcoming tile-making workshops:

  • November 23rd

  • December 7th

Each workshop will offer two sessions: the first hour (1:00–2:00 PM) is reserved for educators, and the second session (2:15–3:15 PM) is open to all ages and community members.

We’ll also be visiting schools throughout Kerr County in the upcoming months. If you’d like to invite us to your classroom, please reach out to Wanda@ComArts.us to schedule a visit.

We’re deeply grateful to the Water Street Festival for inviting us to be part of such a joyful event, and to everyone who sat with us, shared their stories, and left their imprint—literally—on this community project. We made over 150 tiles and worked with over 300 community members!! Together, we’re building something lasting and heartfelt, one tile at a time.

Stay tuned for updates and photos as the Kerr County Love mural continues to take shape!
